The risk-prediction calculator should be used in conjunction with and not as a substitute for clinical judgment. The risk percentage values should supplement and not replace the professional judgment of the patients’ healthcare provider. The risk-prediction models take into account a large number of pre–procedural factors. However, there are angiographic and procedural variables and potentially difficult-to-measure factors that may uniquely impact an individual patient’s risk of an adverse outcome. Major adverse events may occur in patients who are deemed to be at very low risk and no subgroup has been identified that has a zero risk of complications.
