Cardiac rehabilitation improves cardiovascular outcomes. However, fewer than 5% of eligible heart failure patients participate in cardiac rehabilitation.
Answering this call to action is Jessica Golbus, MD, MS, who joined BMC2 as the Clinical Physician Champion of the Michigan Cardiac Rehab Network (MiCR).
BMC2 Program Director, Dr. Hitinder Gurm, said, “We are honored to welcome Dr. Golbus to BMC2 to co-develop and ensure the effective implementation of MiCR strategies and enhance patient education across Michigan.”
Dr. Golbus received her MD from the University of Michigan and completed her residency in Internal Medicine at the Hospital University of Pennsylvania. She then completed her training in General and Advanced Heart Failure and Transplant Cardiology at the University of Michigan. Dr. Golbus is currently an Assistant Professor within the Division of Cardiovascular Medicine at the University of Michigan.
Dr. Golbus is actively engaged in clinical practice in heart failure, heart transplantation, and critical care cardiology. Her research focuses on using mobile health technology to promote and sustain lifestyle modification amongst patients with cardiovascular disease, with a particular interest in cardiac rehabilitation.
“I look forward to working with and learning from diverse members on the MiCR team with the shared goal of improving access to this lifesaving therapy,” Dr. Golbus said. “I am excited to understand how centers in Michigan deliver cardiac rehabilitation outside of traditional center-based cardiac rehabilitation and support them in using novel delivery methods to expand access to care.”
Outside of work, Dr. Golbus loves running, traveling to new cities, and cooking for her family, which includes her heart failure cardiologist husband, daughter Emma, and yellow lab named Peyton.
