Glass statuettes recognizing BMC2 PCI Excellence in Cardiovascular Quality are lined up on a table.

BMC2 PCI honored participating centers that achieved 100% on their 2024 composite measurement with a statuette to commemorate their achievement.

The sites were recognized during the PCI Collaborative Meeting on May 10th in Novi, MI.

Each year, BMC2-participating hospitals and centers around the State of Michigan work toward a set of goals to improve quality of care and outcomes for patients undergoing percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) - procedures that treat blockages in the arteries that supply blood to the heart. In 2024, the consortium worked to improve:

  • Death rates
  • Kidney injury
  • Major bleeding events
  • Cardiac rehabilitation referral
  • Prescription of guideline-directed medications at discharge from the hospital

In Michigan, patients undergo approximately 24,000 PCI procedures each year. Health care providers at 51 facilities participate in BMC2 PCI and collaborate to improve quality of care and outcomes for cardiovascular patients across the state. The collaborative creates data-driven quality improvement goals and initiatives, shares best practices, and distributes reports benchmarked to statewide performance; all focused on improving cardiovascular care throughout Michigan.

For 2024, BMC2 recognized:

  • Corewell Health Beaumont Grosse Pointe Hospital
  • Corewell Health Beaumont Hospital Troy
  • Corewell Health Farmington Hills Hospital
  • Corewell Health Fred and Lena Meijer Heart Center (Grand Rapids)
  • DMC Huron Valley-Sinai Hospital
  • Henry Ford Hospital (Detroit)
  • Henry Ford Jackson Hospital
  • Henry Ford Warren Hospital
  • Holland Hospital
  • MyMichigan Health
  • Trinity Health Ann Arbor Hospital

“We are thrilled to recognize our sites and celebrate the many physicians, advanced practice providers, site coordinators, data abstractors, quality improvement leaders, and countless others who contribute to the success the consortium has achieved,” said Dr. Hitinder S. Gurm, Director of BMC2, and Chief Medical Officer at University of Michigan Health.

Associate Director of BMC2 PCI, Dr. Eric Cantey, said, “Patients are our purpose and at the heart of everything we do. Through engagement with all of the cath labs in the state, we can improve quality of care for all patients, not only in Michigan but nationally and globally."
